We Need Your Help!

Donate via:

Camp Lodge

Cancergame.org, in association with davesite.com, needs your help to provide funds for a cost-free camping experience at Camp Mak-A-Dream in Gold Creek, Montana to four children with cancer in the summer of 2007.

It costs $500 to sponsor one child's weeklong experience at Camp Mak-A-Dream. Davesite.com will match every dollar donated in this campaign up to $1000, so if you help us raise $1000, davesite.com will match another $1000, providing $2000--enough for four camping experiences.

We made it to $289 by the end of 2006, which isn't bad (although I know we can do better!) I will still be taking matches through June 2007.

We're up to $789 thanks to a great donor! Let's get the last $211! Please help! (Graph to update soon)

A message from Dave Kristula, founder of davesite.com, and co-designer of "The Cancer Game" about Camp Mak-A-Dream:

I had the wonderful opportunity of spending a week at the Young Adult Conference at Camp Mak-A-Dream in July 2005. I met a ton of amazing people--campers, volunteers, and staff alike. It was one of the best weeks of my life. When I was being treated for cancer, I rarely got to see anyone my age... at Camp Mak-A-Dream, everyone was about my age, and we all shared similiar experiences. It was nice to finally know I'm not alone, and the other campers gave me a lot of hope--I just hope I was able to give them some hope in return.

Children with cancer often feel disconnected from their peers. In childhood, they are often the only one in their circle of friends who has cancer, and it can be difficult for them to make or keep friends. Camp Mak-A-Dream gives children (teens, and young adults) a chance to be with peers from all over the country who are facing or have faced similiar battles with cancer. Cancer survivors of all ages can inspire each other, and children with cancer are certainly not an exception.

With your help, we can make sure four children have the chance
to inspire and be inspired, as well as have a lot of fun
camping and making friends!

We encourage you to visit campdream.org for information on the conferences and camping experiences they provide. (They hold camps for children, camps for teens, and camps for young adults who have cancer or had cancer, including those who are currently undergoing treatment. In fact, campers who are under treatment can even receive chemotherapy while they're at camp, so their treatment schedule doesn't get pushed off one bit!) All camping experiences are cost-free to campers, regardless of financial abilities.

Camp Mak-A-Dream is a 501(c)3 charity, which makes your donation tax deductible as allowed by law, including a donation given as part of this matching driving.
